By alliance I mean a joint announcement that Trump and Cruz are now running as a team, or perhaps a joint announcement committing Trump to pick Cruz as a Supreme Court justice.
I bring this up because the elites are starting to coalesce around Rubio (aka Romney II). And as we all know, nominating Romney II will just get us Clinton II.
The irony coming from the Trump camp would be remarkable.
I’d like to see Ted for SCOTUS.
The language though between the two is super nasty. Trump was really ticked about some of Ted’s ads. But they could burry the hatchet.
What does Trump need from Ted? Trump is about to win it all with things proceeding as they are.
SCOTUS is a life sentence. I don’t think that’s what Cruz wants. If he doesn’t win, AG or VP would be a better place for him.
Cruz will have to overlook the names Trump was calling him this morning.
And what would it say about Trump for him to choose someone who isn’t eligible (according to Trump) as his running mate, or someone wh (according to Trump) “the biggest liar I’ve ever met” for the Supreme Court?
Trump/Cruz sounds good to me.
Cruz dropping out for a SC nomination under Trump sounds good too.
No, it is not, nor will it ever be time for a Cruz alliance with leftists from either party.
I think the bridges have been burned. Too bad.
Still... stranger things have happened.
Well, I would say I’d like to see the two camps have a more civil discourse between them. They share more viewpoints than many would care to admit, and the two camps should take a look at what they have in common with each other, and what they DON’T have in common with everyone else. Sometimes you have your most vicious fights with your own brother than with anyone else.
Cruz will want to wait until at least the Texas primary is over, I would think.
But it would be good to see Trump go into the convention with a firm lock on the delegate count.
It ain’t over yet.
Cruz’ skill set is most favorable to semi-monastic life on the Supreme Court.
He’s a poor candidate. He’s a poor colleague. He will (obviously) never be President.
He would rock and roll on the Court.
"Politics makes strange bedfellows."
If Cruz and Rubio take enough delegates between them this can go to a brokered convention. As it is this is still a possibility and at convention delegates only have to vote for their pledged candidate on the first vote. After that everything is up for grabs and manipulation by GOPe machinations.
As I see it Cruz' only path to the nomination is to try and beat Rubio badly enough that GOPers decide it's a two man race and that Cruz is the lesser of two evils. This is a long shot and had Trump left the door open to a deal with Cruz he could lock up his support and have the nomination wrapped up.
Well I've seen the Trump quotes on Cruz that include the words "liar", "nasty", "unstable", "sick", but I haven't seen the Cruz quotes.
Down with Rubio, let’s do it!!
Yeah, while I would have loved to have seen it, unfortunately, I think there’s too much scorched earth between them now.
The winning team would be Trump/Rubio. Cruz isn’t Scotus material. He’d never get confirmed, plus I think he’d like to run again for POTUS someday.
