Cruz is my second choice but Donald would be more effective because he has mastered the obvious.
For example there is over 2 trillion dollars parked offshore by US companies because the US will tax those dollars if they try to repatriate them. Trump is going to stop that.
The US has and a 500 billion trade deficit with China and a 50 billion dollar trade deficit with the Mexicans. The US is being steadily decapitalized by these deficits. Trump is going to reduce them significantly.
Trump is going to build a wall, secure US borders and deport illegals. He’ll make the illegals pay for the wall by taxing the 20 billion remittances shipped south every year.
He will stop the coming moslem invasion of the USA.
That’s the baseline for me.
These may be less important to you.
Perry is a Cruz supporter.

Building the wall is one thing, a definite maybe. Getting the Mexicans to pay for it is NOT going to happen. You don't really imagine that the Congress is going to levy a tax on Mexicans on the money they send to their poor relatives in Mexico, do you? They are perceived as part of the Democrat voter base and no Demonrat Congressman or Senator will approve. OTOH, the wimps who call themselves "Republicans" are owned lock, stock and barrel by the corrupt business interests of the Cheap Labor Express. Taxes of that sort ain't gonna happen.
And what SPECIFICALLY is TRUMP!!! gonna do to repatriate American corporate earnings from foreign countries other than waiving taxes so that the foreign governments get the benefits so that he can get the bragging rights but no revenue to speak of.
I lack any sophisticated understanding as to our trade deficit with Red China or with Mexico or with a lot of other nations such as Canada and Japan. Just HOW is TRUMP!!! gonna reduce them? SPECIFICS please! Trust TRUMP!!! to know how is NOT an answer.
TRUMP!!! may well rebuild the military. He may force a firmer foreign policy but let's hear details. I think he is fortunately not capable of continuing Obozo's (and Hillary's) incredible disappearing influence foreign policy of auto-surrender. TRUMP!!! is no more pro-life than is Planned Barrenhood. He yaks on this but convinces no serious pro-lifer. He is also vulnerable on lifestyles of the rich and perverted issues like trasgenderism or "gay""marriage." This guy is NOT ready for the Oval Office and at his age (which is about three months older than mine) he does not have a lot of years to competently get up to speed. However he may bluster, he will not unnecessarily commit boots on the ground at the drop of a hat which is also to his credit. Those are issues (and not the only ones) that I care about and you did not mention although you probably care about some of them too.
This is a thing I CAN NOT understand. "Hey Coach, what's your strategy for beating Midtown in the big game on Saturday?"
I, for one, put much more faith in someone who tells me they intend to do something I want and believe is doable, than someone who gratuitously insists it can't be done
