SSBNs are the 14 remaining Ohio Class ballistic missile submarines, out of an original class of 18 boats. They carry 24 Trident nuclear missiles as the seaborne leg of the nuclear deterrent triad.

SSGNs are the first four Ohios that in the early 2000s were con entered into guided missile submarines after becoming extraneous under START. They can carry over 150 Tomahawk conventional cruise missiles, plus have extensive special operations capabilities.
