(Vanity) Nightmare Supreme Court Scenario

Posted on 03/07/2016 9:37:07 PM PST by ConservativeMan55

Was just reading that the Republicans can only lose 4 Senate seats before the Democrats would be able to take over?

I also read that the Senate is sworn in 18 days before the President. Which would leave Obama with a Democrat Senate for 18 days and the ability to nominate who he wants for the Supreme Court.

Is this true? Could or would this happen??

Republicans could filibuster and most likely would. Particularly if the Republicans win the White House.

Don’t kid yourself, the democrats will have a hard time taking the Senate. Even with the map as it is. It is all but impossible to oust a seated senator.

DEMS would need 60 votes for cloture. They don’t have them.

Does anybody else see the Adolph power grab coming up? New senate, he could get a supreme emergency powers act passed and never have to leave!

We just think he's gonna leave office? Willingly? Not from what I've seen of him and them.

Blame Romney when those GOP seats are lost because Republican voters are mad.

This whole thing about Supreme Court. Picks is just getting tiresome if we can put in New Leader’s in who will uphold they’re oaths of office. We can till the court’s to shove it. They weren’t meant to be this powerful, at all.

Obama could care less about laws or rules.. so anything he does is not unexpected.

Absolutist possible. Each new Senate adopts its own rules. The new Senate could eliminate filibuster for SCOTUS nominees and jam through confirmation.

One of those likely to lose is (alleged) Republican Mark Kirk. Now check how he would vote on an Obama nomination. Some wonder how much of a loss it would be.

The more likely scenario is

1) GOPe continues to attack the top 2 GOPe candidates
1a) one of those candidates is nominated and much the party hates and fears him
1b) convention rules are used to skip the top 2 vote getters

2a) old GOP voters are demoralized
2b) new (in 2016) GOP voters realize they aren’t wanted and leave

3a) Hillary wins
3b) Dems take over senate

4) Hillary and dem senate have 4 years to do what they want

This will happen unless the GOPe does a 180 real soon.
Stop Mitt from talking.
Put a muzzle on Lindsey the attack poodle.
Start talking up all 4 candidates today.
Start fighting back on any D attack on any R candidate.
Start running attack ads against Hillary instead of a republican candidate.
