adjective 1. sluggish in temperament; gloomy; taciturn. 2. suffering from lead poisoning, as a person.
Etymology: Saturnine derives from the name of the planet Saturn, which in turn was named after the Roman god Saturnus. The original sense of the word had an astrological meaning, and referred to a person who was born under the influence of Saturn. Saturnine entered English early 1400s.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

I think that Andrew Breitbart would be quite saturnine over the fate of his website. Total disarray. The country is supposed to unite around Trump, when this website cannot hold itself together because of competing loyalties?

Isn’t it great how a lib website can say 7,329 stupid, wrong things with zero consequence and all it takes is one or two gaffes by a Conservative site for its survival to be called into question.

the website is at war with itself, people resigning over the failure to support their reporter. These weren’t gaffes.

Getting over it on my own. Gonna be awhile to completely come back. Saturday was the daughter’s birthday and I had my gag gift speech to give at my fire company banquet. I collapsed again on Sunday. Tonight I go out campaigning, as village elections are tomorrow. I wrote a letter to take around to my neighbors. Tonight we walk with the candidates in our three wards to get out the vote. We are striving for a dozen volunteer fireman with each candidate.
As a side note, our illustrious mayor was “campaigning” Friday night at the local bar. My SIL, the widow, was out with a couple for a drink where a local band was playing. They texted us to come down to join them and our SIL, son in law, did. The mayor was smashed as usual and was hitting on the widow. Bad scene. He offered her a ride home.......if I had been there I would have asked him “on the street cleaner?” One night, while drunk, he stole it and crashed it. Was found passed out. The village was without a street cleaner for several years till we could by a new one. The cops covered it up and took him home. Dear God in Heaven, let the man be voted out.

the mayor stuff is just horrible~!!
I got to the banquet and realized the whole slate of candidates for village office were at the banquet....and my big gag gift was about the election. The “counter” of the votes was there as well. I had “ballots” for all to fill out so we could “stuff the ballot box”. There was a large box to check that had their party name on it, then there was a much smaller box that was labeled “That party that dissed our firemen and told us to fix our own dang roof.” Got some laughs and they all got a ballot...the counter got the bag stuffed with ballots. One of the Trustee’s wives had family that have been in the fire department forever, she took a handful to share with them....so I guess they were amused.

It was sometime around then if memory serves. He was forgetting words, using the wrong ones, and in general looking as though he had just eaten something gross.
