But since that isn't going to happen what I want to know is why people get soooo het up over something that is ENTIRELY out of their control? Like who gets to be POTUS.
I have tried not to be hateful myself and have repeatedly stated that I would vote for the Republican candidate no matter who it was, while saying my favorite was Cruz.
I can't wait for them to start using their energy by focusing on the Beast. {{{{Sigh}}}}
Well neighbor, you’re right, there is way too much nastiness on this dignified forum. Why you would think it was Yahoo Answers or a sports comment page the way some folks have been carrying on.
I try to be civil when I point out a Republican’s weaknesses (except maybe Jeb’s shortcomings a time or two). Of course part of the appeal of Trump is his forthright manner and his rebellion against political correctness. But we should save the really rough stuff for the Dems.
I recently jumped to Trump in the wake of Cruz’s failure to condemn the demonstrators and his placing the rally hurly burly blame on the Donald. But if I cannot say anything critical of Cruz then I cannot even explain why I changed camps.

You’re in the same boat as I am. I too have been staying away, and even thinking about no longer supporting the freep-a-thon. But, I realize that the trolls are not representative of all supporters of one candidate or another. I am a Cruz supporter, and I could name between half to one dozen Trump supporters who make this place intolerable, but I won’t call them out. If they over-step their bounds, I’m sure they’ll get the zot. Now, for the Trump supporters, if Trump gets the nomination, like it looks like he will, I will happily vote for him on election day. But the Trump trolls are making it very hard to do. I don’t mind if Trump supporters attack Ted Cruz on substance, but when they call him sleazy, slimy, and a liar, that’s just taking it too far. Cruz was standing and fighting for us in the senate since 2013, and God willing he will be re-elected to the Senate in 2018. By the way, if you read this post, Laz, I hope you like my new tagline.
But I think about other things sometimes.
Today at work I just had to tell Rick that Santos didn't think it was right that Rick claims he is 1/4 Native American and went to see the Medicine Man yesterday for free while Santos says HE has to pay for health insurance or they pull his green card.
Santos tells me he is 7/8ths NA. I said I thought you were Spanish? Apparently only when THAT is necessary. Like when I asked him before if he was NA and he got mad and said he was Spanish.
Anyways Santos works out of town a lot and has all these girlfriends. So I kid him about all his kids. I told him if he did it right he could get all kinds of free stuff for being from the South. And then turn around and get free stuff for being NA. Yeah if he played it right he could probably get the government to give him back some land. Build him a casino. He could live like a king plus give all his kids and baby mamas a job at his casino.
Just a win-win.
In fact, the winning would never end.
I have noticed that FR posting is down - way down. The vitriol has been allowed to go on too long. I rarely post on a candidate thread. What’s the point? It’s really gone down hill lately. FR has been reading like DU of late. Not appealing at all.

I kinda agree with you, S.Hound. The idea sounds looovely, but would neuter FreeRepublic.
First Amendment is a good thing — everywhere. I’m good with criticizing the candidates. Traditionally, putting themselves in that position invites and demands dialogue. We’re expected to argue the politics of a candidate.
But the personal name calling amongst FReepers is not pretty. I’ve seen, “You’re and idiot... imbecile... POS... asshole.” That isn’t necessary. All of us love America.
