Too bad the politicians who caused the financial meltdown didn’t get a job with a side of “humble pie”. But if they did, CNN wouldn’t be covering them. Because as we all know government had no part in the disaster. /sarcasm off.

I have more respect for any waiter than for someone who sits on their ass and won’t work because the job they’ve been offered pays too little.

Yeah, I’ve collected unemployment; I also put in 1600 applications in the year between permanent jobs, 31 interviews, 6 positions (5 I got let go from as I couldn’t cut it in sales, but in each case the manager realized I was giving it 100 percent and in several instances cleaned toilets and swept to have continuity between jobs).

The ex-cons are so noble, and the Wall Streeters so corrupt.....

What a fairy tale.

For one reason or another, I have been tossed out of work a few times. Each time, I was employed again by the end of the week.

If you are willing to go far enough down the ladder, you can always find a job. And from that job, you find your next job, and so on.

A skilled typist can still make 10 bucks an hour any place in the country. Get a job, show up on time, do it well, and you would be surprised what can happen...

"A bit" over 35, Adams now gives financial tips to his former Waffle House colleagues.

What kind of man is coy about his age?

Regards,

When I was a much younger man, I had a small business that failed. I went to look for unemployment and was too embarrassed to stand in line after filling out the form. Instead, I took a job as unskilled help in a cabinet shop for far less money than I had made in years.

Unemployment would have paid me $160 a week. Plus some other stuff, food stamps and such. My take home from the cabinet shop was $149.50. I was much richer at the cabinet shop. In the dozens of years I have been steadily employed, it was the only time I have taken a check from a company that was not my own. I still think that was the point that gave me the determination to work on my terms. Best salary I ever took.

If you haven’t worked in over 20 years, it is very hard to get a job.

Yeah, the person who steals 5 million with a computer is so much less threat to society than the person who holds up a 7/11 for $500.

I think the Chinese have it about right: financial shenanigans over $5000 and it’s a bullet to the brain and sell the organs.

At least the dude got a job. When I started out I lived in neighborhoods filled with third generation welfare recipients in free houses with free food... And proud of it! Had one black lady across the street who thought I was a real sucker. She was a nice lady, but it was all she could do to stay poor enough to keep her house.

Yep. Let’s hope we will stay blessed with health and the ability to make a little money.

I have little sympathy for these guys, but Danny Glover starring in this movie pretty much tells me that instead of being a film about personal corruption, it will be a beat-down on Capitalism and probably George W. Bush as well.

Likely yet another leftwing history re-write, or at the very least a left-wing perspective designed to lay blame at their specifically intended targets regardless of actual facts.

Pass.

That is true. The first thing an employer wants to know is that you are going to show up on time and do the job. If you haven't been working, you have no way of proving that. If you have been cleaning toilets in a hotel for the past six months, you can prove it.

Somebody who is long term unemployed has a much more difficult problem.

"Yeah," Adams said. "Firms like mine caused it."

Isn't that nice. A useful idiot to play into the Left's morality tale. Adams was an evil Wall Street banker who now sees the evil of his ways and is working in the Waffle House as penance. This is a story that shouldn't be written, at least not about this dope.

Heck, for a lot of companies, if you want to get an interview, you’d better currently have a job.
