I've been trying and trying to keep my feelings about Ted to the 'aspergers/autism' spectrum rather than the leaning sociopath spectrum, but I find myself feeling like I'm making excuses.

No, people don't change from that unless they've undergone a fundamental transformation that transcends the experience of most people.

If Ted has not gone through a fundamental transformation, then this explains why he seems so disconnected when he speaks - like he's reading from a script in his head. It's because he is.

People can be like this and not be intentionally evil. Obama is this way too. It's not that there is a presence of evil, it's that what we would call 'good' ... i.e. a connection to humanity ... is simply not present.

What's left is just a robot with thought and desire. With no connection to other humans, I too would only want those things.

There is no way to prove that Cruz is this way, but as I was pointing out to JediTediJones earlier, this is not a court of law where a negative judgment takes away a man's rights and puts him in prison - where 'beyond a reasonable doubt' is the standard. It's not even 'preponderance of the evidence' as in a civil case where we would take something from him that is his and award it to another. This is a character judgment - the kind you make when you leave your kids with a babysitter - and if Cruz can't communicate that he's anything different, then even if he is different - even if he is 'connected and good,' it's on him if people see him as spooky, smarmy, arrogant and basically just another version of Jimmy Swaggart / Glen Beck.

The thing is, he speaks like a slimy preacher. Why don't the Cruz supporters pick up on that? Even if they just notice it and register it as i'm sure all Trump supporters notice and register his oddities and risks?

Are there any Cruz supporters out there who can say anything negative about Ted? I'll readily admit that Trump's ego is a risk, that he bends rules, that there are things he's not fully thought through ... yet. You don't go into the presidency prepared for it, perfect for it.

But this story may be a final nail in Cruz's coffin for me ... given that this is not a criminal case nor a civil case, but a choice about whether I want to leave my kids with a certain baby sitter or not. No F'ing way at this point does that guy touch my country.

I’ve said I used to be a big Ted fan, and thought little of Trump. Then Iowa and got to know them, and feel exactly opposite now.
Having said that, as to this storm of accusations, so far they’re just that: finger-pointing.
We’re going to know more about these charges that he’s not who he claims to be in the next few days. So far all we’ve got are allegations.
Everyone needs to tuck in their horns and wait for all the evidence.

Good post. I definitely see some autism spectrum in him. He is socially absolutely clueless.

If these stories are half true, after Herman Cain, he thought he could run for President and not mess up his family forever? He is really repulsive. He’s not evil with intent to harm others, just only out for himself, every inch of himself, all the time. With no consideration for the feelings or position of others. He has trashed all his political mistresses and maybe the hookers too. His kids may never recover from this as they wont even fully realize it all until they are older. He has humiliated his wife, probably not for the first time.

He’s a rather disappointing human being.
