Bet she was trying to get to Trump in order to instigate some kind of a bigger confrontation/incident, didn't accomplish it, so she ran with what she had, which is very lame but yet serves the purpose of creating a stink to drown out his message across the media. And it's a pattern - something like this always seems to break loose right before a caucus/primary vote.

I agree and have observed the same. This was a conspiracy for a larger story. The media ran with it anyways to effect the outcome of another election.
