In the critical early days of September 2008, after Sarah Palin was nominated as the Republican Party's candidate for Vice President, the National Enquirer ran a cover story alleging that the Alaska governor had an adulterous affair.
Palin, and Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign, immediately and unequivocally denied the story. "The smearing of the Palin family must end," said McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt, as quoted at the time. "The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Gov Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie. The efforts of the media and tabloids to destroy this fine and accomplished public servant are a disgrace. The American people will reject it." The campaign also threatened legal action.
(That was a textbook example of how to shut down a media rumor)

Correct. And earlier the Enquirer discovered Bristol was pregnant with Levi’s baby. The NE phoned the Palin campaign and gave them 48 hours to deal with it, prior to releasing their tabloid. Sarah dealt with it, center stage.
And when Ted Cruz was given his ‘heads up’ from the NE,how did he deal with it?
1. His allies or surrogates release the Melania photo, which was not necessary to ensure the Utah vote. It was to get ahead of the big story-bomb ready to hit Cruz. Plus, it was a two-fer. He could blame it on Trump!
2. He began deleting his earlier twitter feed.
Good, tonight I took a rare detour through the MSM channels on TV and it was awesome. Constant chatter about what a goon Trump was towards Cruz. Best free coverage Cruz has got this election.
Really? oh wow, how much did those polls cost the Establishment?
Americans can see thru the BS polls and that all they are.

See the problem was, Cruz’s underground life was not supposed to be revealed until the right time and this was not the right time- although the GOPe spinning it into an attack on trump was an unqualified success
But should cruz be nominated well .... It may be amazing what further details come out when you drag $500,000 through a whorehouse
or a superPAC
There are a lot of professional siimilarities as both screw people for money
And if Cruz is not nominated, well then blackmail should be a useful tool as needed to sway the good senators vote

The article on Palin says she not only said they were false, they threatened to sue and DID NOT blame another campaign. Palin did not hid behind someone either. She handled the accusations with class. A very different approach than we see today.
I hope they do, it will mean two things, first Trump is not the candidate and second they got nothing.

According to Trumpster standards, Palin is as guilty as sin and it’s all a conspiracy to cover up because not only did she not play along with the childish antics of the accusers by reciting the “required official” denial demanded by her idiot accusers, she avoided answering “the question” by having a spokesperson do the denying for her!

I'm not "pushing" anything. I'm pointing out that Cruz and his supporters are being dishonest by blaming the Nat. Enquirer story on Trump, who had nothing to do with it.
In my book, blaming someone for something he did not do is a typical scum liberal tactic. Perhaps instead of trying to smear Trump, Cruz's effort should be directed at the Nat. Enquirer and quashing the story. If the story is false, it should be easy to quash. Cruz is acting a lot like Bill Clinton with this--except, instead of blaming some "vast right-wing conspiracy", he is blaming Trump.
The sad part is, I used to support Cruz. When it looked like Trump is the favorite, I supported Cruz for VP. Now, I can no longer do that. I'm hoping for a good VP, but I don't know who that is, yet.

If someone asked me in public if I had ever been unfaithful to my wife I would simply say “no”. This is because I have never been unfaithful to my wife.
If Carly Fiorina jumped in and interrupted me to say how abhorrent the question was I would wait until she was finished and then I would say “no”.

Yeah, how is that narrative working for you. Cruz has played this hit on him like a fiddle. I was researching a story tonight and went to an NBC news site, they put up one of those pop up videos that plays even if you don't hit play. Three stories in a row on how Trump was a scum bag in treating Cruz. I couldn't believe it, I just kept letting the video play, one story after another.
If the woman in question (Twitter feed) was not intimate with Cruz, then she was certainly antagonizing Heidi to make it look like she was.
I saw all of the tweets up through Tuesday. There is something there, but not sure what.
