She entirely misses the point about work.

It is not simply about receiving a paycheck.

There is a certain dignity that work confers on a person which makes them part of the human community. This surpasses the importance of money.

By failing to consider this, she remains a failure lacking a sense of worth that far surpasses her monetary value alone.

She has every reason to be ashamed of herself and her false bravado about taking advantage of "the system" is only an attempt to deny her utter failure as a contributing member of society.

Pathetic.

You are OBVIOUSLY talking about the old America.
This is the new AMERIKA, where to quote a recent movie, “Workin’ is fo’ CHUMPS, Dog! All ya gots ta do is hustle some, ya kno’?”

Unfortunately, this mindset no longer exists in America. This is the “it’s all about me” generation.

Good post. Somebody could offer me twice my current salary (and it's not insignificant) to sit at home and not work - and I wouldn't take it.

It is true that work confers dignity and self-worth on a person. Unfortunately many people know nothing but welfare so they will never know what it is like to be a contributing member of society. People on welfare tend to be unhappy and miserable people.
