OWIE, Texas — Word spreads quickly around in the City of Bowie, Population: 5,000.
So when a large statue covered with blue tarp showed up off of Highway 81, just about everyone in the city already knew what was underneath it.
"I think it will put Bowie on the map," said local Bill Enlow. "I hope it does."
People driving by noticed the crowds surrounding the statue Thursday afternoon, and they also heard the applause after the Montague County city unveiled what will be its new landmark.

Small towns like Burkburnett and Iowa Park play sports and are competitive. The Jackrabbits have had some good teams lately.
