Is Steve bitching about N.W.A. too being inducted? It was bad enough that Simmons was ripping on them.
Why is it called the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame anyway? Why can't it just be called the Music Hall of Fame?

Is Steve bitching about N.W.A. too being inducted? It was bad enough that Simmons was ripping on them. From the excerpt it appears perfectly clear what he was complaining about.
"When they told me I was inducted, they told me 'you can have two tickets one for your wife and one for yourself. Want another one? It's $10,000, sorry that's the way it goes,'", he recounted. "I said 'I'm playing here, what about my band, what about their wives?'"
Miller also claimed there were problems with licensing agreements and with the rock hall "stealing footage."

RR HOF too cheap to even give tickets to his band? Except for $10K a pop??
Sounds like the people in charge knew they had a nice little gig going, controlling access to famous rock stars and getting to profit off it. IOW, the HOF is set up more to benefit its operators than either the inductees or the public.
Keep on bitchin’ me, baby. That’s how changes get made.

So it seems like the HOF took the time to collect a bunch of tapes and recordings of Miller's "illustrious" career in order to honor him, but then neglected to pay him for showing the tapes and playing the recordings.
There is something really wrong with copyright laws if Miller can make a case for getting paid for seeing his own tribute.

Agreed, it’s not so much about rock and roll anymore.

Agreed - call it the Popular Music Hall of Fame and be done with it. Rock and roll seems to be pretty much dead these days anyway, sticking with that label gives this "Hall of Fame" a pretty limited future.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is mostly interesting for induction speeches (I was just watching Jimmy Page's speech for Jeff Beck a few weeks ago on YouTube). I was never a fan of Steve Miller's, not of the music or the personality that came across in interviews, but it's nice to see that he's still got things to complain and pontificate about after all these years.

Considering they include Rap, they could call it the “Music and Other cRAP Hall of Fame.”
