LGBT: Abbreviation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender. An umbrella term that is used to refer to the community as a whole. Our center uses LGBTQIA to intentionally include and visibilize the Queer, Intersex and Asexual communities under our umbrella
Well the last inservice at work that I was forced to participate in was only LGBTQI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer-questioning, intersex). I have no idea what the A stands for. Seems like every few months the alphabet soup that is this special rights group grows even more. The beauty of it is that they’re all starting to turn on one another. The gays don’t feel like the bi’s and the transgenders are truly gay enough and have co-opted “their” movement. LOL!
The Q stands for queer.
