Regular procedure. I’ve experienced this several times over the past 35 years from NY/NJ to California.
I’m glad they do it to combat poaching.
On the other hand, if they’re doing it for weapons check, then no.
Conditioning the people to submit to the police, but conditioning the police to see the people as the adversary. You don’t want that PTSD crap to start when the cops have to go to war with the people. You certainly would want to do a better job of training than the Army is doing these days.
Read the fine print when you buy your hunting/fishing license. It is a contract where you agree to be stopped any time by F&G.
That’s great and all, but I see them stopping EVERYONE coming down the road, and then harassing the hunters further.
That is called “fishing”, and is illegal.
Per the story: And even if a person/vehicle is carrying wood, that does not indicate a crime has been committed, but they will get harassed too.
White tax?
They do it looking for any and all violations, not just hunting. The term is "fishing", where they don't have any suspicion but are just looking for wrongdoing. It is wholly illegal.
Youtube is full of videos wherein the cops threatens the driver and asks leading, open ended questions in an attempt to trip up the driver, even lying to them.
The smart person clams up.
Maybe its both. I’d agree the current Fed Gov encourages the anti-police movement. Which in the end is to make it so the police will follow orders which would not be followed 10 years ago.
Nothing new. I remember the New Mexico G&F road blocks the first week end of deer season forty years ago!
Just don’t have conversations with police while they’re conducting their business.
“I don’t want to have a conversation with you officer, okay?”
Joking aside, DUI is a problem too, because of jerks. BUT, that does not give legitimacy to DUI roadblocks.
You may feel more secure/safe surrendering YOUR rights, but I will not.
Having no license, then I would have given no permission nor feel an obligation.
You are correct, but do your homework and have your argument ready because most LEO’s don’t get that argument.
He found a free smorgasboard; to quote a movie line “ HE’LL BE BACK “.
