The Kelpie was owned by Victoria dairy farmer Brian McLaren.

He told a local newspaper that she died on Sunday night in her basket.

"She was 30. She was still going along nicely last week. She was walking from the dairy to the office and growling at the cats and all that sort of thing," Brian told the Weekly Times.

A dog that size usually does not live to 15. I wonder what the difference was? That dog must have been 200+ in canine years.

He was allowed to do what he loved and genetics took over from there. I love a working dog.

So sorry to hear it. We lost our 17.5 year old Beagle Buddy two years ago and we are still wishing him back.

Just another example of the mean spirit and hardheartedness that is now so prevalent on FR. I find myself coming less and and less.

That's true..I'm hoping maybe they'll leave after the election is over and it'll return to normal.

“What an idiot I am.” I’ll say. And, an obnoxious one at that.
Here’s another of your wonderful uplifting posts:
“When I tell all of you I have solutions to the problems of this nation, I mean it...but some just simply won’t listen or believe.”

Priorities mixed up. Badly mixed up. Not getting into a flame war. I like dogs, but do not elevate them to the status of people. What a shame that we do that. You can go off all you want to. Should a plague of some sort born by parasites that live on dogs and cats sweep through this nation, we’re doomed.

Got it. Learning a lot about freedom of speech these days. It only exists on one side of the discussion.

Don’t we all wish that, don’t we all know how much it hurts when they have to go.
Lost my Old Jack this last Dec. 30th after 18 years.
Really do wish they could all go in their beds when the time comes, unfortunately most don’t.

Not much to ponder or be vexed about actually.
For some strange reason, our dogs give us unconditional loyalty and unconditional love.
Two things pretty hard to come by in another human being.
A NORMAL person has a tendency to respond in kind.

One of the biggest animal mistakes I ever made was to keep a cat alive days after he should have been put down. I loved him so much I was blinded to the fact that he was suffering to a point where he’d probably rather be gone. I foolishly kept believing in a ‘miracle’.

Figuring out just when to do it is very hard, but it is an essential responsibility of animal ownership.

Amen to that. The dog I had as a small child made it to 20. She was in rough shape, but she didn't die of natural causes. She walked out in front of a truck that was just pulling out. To this day, my mother thinks she knew it was her time, and deliberately stepped out in front of it. The truck was barely moving, so it was clean and quick. I miss that dog. This was back in the day when Mom could give me money and a shopping list, and I'd walk to the market to get her groceries, and my dog would follow along side and sit at the front door of the market until I came out. If it got too hot outside, she'd come inside and sit by the shopping carts. The cashiers knew her by name and would even give her water if she was thirsty. Then back up the hill we went. What a great girl she was. As I tell everyone, if there is a Lord God who can make the heavens and the earth, then he certainly can have that Rainbow Bridge sitting there with all our four-legged family waiting for us when we arrive. All Things Are Possible With God.

133 human years? Not a bad run, but nowadays dogs think they’ll live forever.
