That’s why I cannot imagine the allure of a Great Dane who live about 5-6 years.

Well, I won’t go into the explanations. But, I have had several Danes and they all made it to at least 9. I have a 12 year old Dane now. She is still doing well and think she will go to 13 no problem. I have had different breeds, but, the Danes are just “different”, and I will always own at least one at anytime. The average I have seen from a rescue and owner experience is 8-9. These dogs are born like any other and need a good home. They can’t help the span. And if you ever choose one, you will be hooked.

My B-I-L has great Danes. They are great. He just lost one and I said: Well you will get to see her again on “Rainbow Bridge”. I had to explain as he is staunch catholic. He said “no way” as pets don’t have souls. He said the beauty of dogs is that they are short lived and easy to forget. This former Catholic disagrees with him.
