“you’re the one pressing for decent manners”

Not at all. Did you see the fact that I marked that as “Sarcasm”? It was meant to be exactly that. No harm, no foul.

But like Zappa

Zappa and Prince are two underrated guitarists. Their live guitar work was great.

I just never cared for Prince's sound.

Ugh...when Springsteen croaks it will be another “loss to humanity” etc. I never cared for Springsteen’s music as well. Mostly because it is amateurish and anthemic. and one tune is too similar to another. I’m sure it’s great if you’re having a few drinks and cruising for girls in the bar, but as “art” it is uninspiring.

Same with Prince...his “art” was uninspiring.

I meant “add” .. My opinions are genius, of course, but my finger-typing is not so hot..

Neither MJ or Prince had been active in performing publicly prior to their death. They tended to do more spot shows. Prince certainly didn’t need the money. MJ needed the money because he was so totally self-focused that he went broke.

The reclusive nature of being them is the killer. It feeds all the things that can lead to your demise.
I see this type of thing with the elderly now. They can’t sleep, they can’t eat, they can’t poop, they can’t deal with money. Pretty soon, they are addicted to sleeping aids and laxatives and “nerve pills”.

“He was much more talented than Michael Jackson.”

Oh my gosh! You are absolutely right, there’s no comparison between the two other than skin color, well, at least what Michael was to start out with. Prince was a musical genius.

On another note, racial tensions today are far, far worse than anything I can recall from the 80’s, and that’s a deliberate result of the democrats!

Springsteen was outstanding in his time and he is still great in concert. I am less worried about his politics because I don’t think it is sincere. He’s a party man.

Some personalities are not that good at adjusting to all the public recognition and adulation that comes with fame, so they become reclusive when off-stage.

I never objected to his music or would care one way or another what people would like. But I come from a part of a generation where thousands of young American men came home in aluminum cans to little or no notice to anyone except their grieving families.

Every single one of them were worth more that a boat-load of drug using composers of pop music.

24 frenetic hours of non-stop adulation for wone whose sole contribution to his country was nice sounds and weird styles is discordant to me - yet another proof that we have lost our way.

Combine writing and doing the music is a rare talent.

“Then, you have Keith Richards.”

Who surprises me every day by just being able to get his two feet unto the floor when he gets up.

Maybe not but it still a choice. The one thing everyone needs to develop is coping skills.
Most celebrities don’t look like themselves so it is easy to avoid recognition. :)

It will be interesting whoever is the sub for Rush today, could very well open up with talk about either about Prince passing or on Hillary carrying hot sauce. We shall see.

“...Prince passing on or Hillary carrying hot sauce...”

Sounds like better topics than all the Rush/Levin/Cruz/Trump bashing!

Yeah, and when Elvis died millions of girls cried buckets of tears. So I guess mass hysteria is nothing new in this country.
