Loved this performance!
Prince comes out about halfway through, plays 1 handed, all the other guys watch in awe and just play chords. Amazing.
Not being of the Prince generation, this was the first thing I thought of and posted (not that it doesn’t deserve an 2nd or 3rd) yesterday when I heard the news. No matter what you thought of Prince as a pop performer, to stand out this impressively on a stagefull of outstanding musicians is really remarkable. It blew me away when I first saw this and realized just how talented he was. A reall sad loss, as someone pointed out between Prince and Michael Jackson, the icons of a generation are both gone way too soon.
Watched this last night - that is an INSANE guitar solo!
superb
WOW!
Years ago I saw an interview with Miles Davis, and he was asked who he thought was the most talented up-and-coming artist on the scene. Without hesitation, he said Prince.
The man was truly talented and let his music do the talking. Unlike today’s “artists” like Kanye who do nothing but self promote. Also, as far as I know, he kept his politics to himself.
He showed up everyone in that video.
Fine stuff. Kudos!
Rolling Stone interviewed Eric Clapton years ago and asked him, “how does it feel to be the best guitar player ever?”
He said, “I don’t know why don’t you ask Prince.”

The ease with which he plays was unreal. It’s effortless. Even standing next to world class guitarists he looks effortless.
Here’s another good example where he just jumps on stage at a birthday party or something and starts playing with the band. It’s a cell phone video but still good enough quality.

Get by with a little help from my friends
Yep, nice guitar. they were saying this morning that George’s widow only wanted 2 guitars but was talked into having Prince.
He certainly put Hendrix to shame.
He didn’t show them up, they deferred to him. Each one of those guys are professionally talented, but only Prince could deliver a rock guitar performance like that.
I’m getting sadder and sadder about this. What a loss.
Cry me a river
Excellent stuff.
I remember during the Superbowl there being a bunch of knownuthins here who were saying “Blah, blah, blah blah Prince who the hell is he... blah blah”
And I said Just keep watchin, you’ll see...
He totally smoked that performance with one of the absolute best SB halftimes EVER!
