Question

Not sure how this will turn out. This was something I saw earlier today that I thought was important. When I went back through threads, I couldn't find it. When I searched online and found this image, it said Free Republic had removed it. What I need to know is - was it removed because it was proven false, or because it was a Getty image or some other copyright issue? Very important to know. Thank you.

Just looking for an answer. If this is real it's important, if it isn't I just want to know so I don't perpetrate something false.

I thought the same thing, too. Then I went back through the old threads and I couldn’t believe what happened next!

Dr. Odimer Edin-Hofer. Google his name as the author of the quote and see what you think after researching the Google links?

Certainly sounds legit. Doesn’t seem to have any of the hallmarks of a made-up quote (misspellings, etc.)

What is “it”?

Don’t ask questions. You’re getting in over your head. This is serious stuff. Just leave it and forget you ever heard about it. It doesn’t exist.

You should be able to post the quote without the pic. The quote is on his Wikipedia page.

He is actually an economist so he is more focused on the economic impacts of climate change and programs associated with it than he is on climate science.

He is also in favor of cap-and-trade. This is supposed to be a more market-friendly way of getting rid of something unwanted than to try to tax it away. Unfortunately it seems as if it is easier for bad actors to game the cap-and-trade system than it is to avoid the tax.

So on the one hand he is advocating for a redistribution of wealth back to the Third World via climate policy, while on the other hand advocating a policy which will guarantee that most of the money associated with climate policy will end up in the hands of hedge funds and their clients, i.e. the loathed one-percenters.

This is another case of the path to hell being paved with good intentions ... or not if Eden-Hofer is just a shill for the likes of the Clintons, Soros, and their ilk.

I did. Didn’t get anything. And if there is anything, why not just say it instead of being snippy?

I wasn’t being snippy. Didn’t know you had pursued the author of the quote yet.

This is pretty weird. Could have been answered in something simple, but all the answers were snippy. Why? It was a legitimate question but no one wanted to acknowledge that. Question is still that - is it proven false, or is it a copyright issue?

I thought you were more interested in the accuracy of the quote than in what FR did to the thread.

It's apparently an accurate quote, and I think this is the FR thread:
