I’m guessing, but a lot of times these gang round ups are initiated by federal task forces...they may work with the locals, but its their show. The mayor may not have had much to do with it.
BTW, they did something similar in my little ole town (Topeka, KS) a few years ago. Rounded up 80 people - pro-rated for population, a lot bigger sweep than what they just did in NYC. Sadly, it made zero impact on the local crime rate.
Would think the round-up, conviction and jail would just leave a void in and others would step in. Didn’t notice any MS13 members mentioned.
I remember back in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s when my son’s high school football team played against the Topeka high school team. Games were always played at our school in Overland Park because of some of the same issues. Seems like some things never change.
