We would have gotten behind Cruz too if he had won the nomination fair and square, which Trump is doing.
Face it; Trump is defeating Cruz and has consistently argued that Cruz is not a natural born citizen.

I haven't heard Trump say he was ineligible in a long time. After the Iowa primary he suggested Cruz might be his VP, which I would assume means he was then saying he was eligible.
