President Obama’s eldest daughter, Malia, has made a decision about where she will attend college. And she has chosen Harvard University.

Malia, who is due to graduate from high school next month, will enter Harvard in the fall of 2017, the White House said Sunday. She will take a “gap year” before beginning her freshman year at the Cambridge, Mass., school, the Obamas said.

Malia had visited at least a dozen elite public and private colleges, including Columbia (where President Obama earned his bachelor’s degree), Princeton (where first lady Michelle Obama earned hers), Brown, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, New York University, Stanford, Tufts, Berkeley, Barnard and Wesleyan.

How much of Harvard’s endowment came from families that made their wealth in the slave trade? She should avoid a school with tainted money.

I thought she was wanted to be a model.

Was this the daughter whose skin looked so lightened a couple of months ago?

The report in the LA Times revealed that blacks and Hispanics get bonus SAT points at elite universities based on their race. Asian students are penalized 50 points due to their race but it is a college admission policy, not a universal system put in place by the SAT program.

And isn’t ‘gap year’ a British term?

Trying so hard to be upscale...

I hadn’t heard it more than a time or two-I just figured it was a fancy term for taking a year to do whatever before going off to college and hitting the books...

Affirmative action strikes again. She’d probably be better off in an obscure, low-demand community college.

Analysis was done, IIRK, that said Obama’s ‘successful’ book (DReams of my father?) was very much in Ayers’ style.

"Gut it out, work hard, take summer classes, graduate in three years."

Bingo to that, assuming that summer labors are not contributing to the 9 mo. expenses.

I had one kid graduate a semester early.

Most kids that are “brilliant” are smart enough to steer clear of NYC. The place is a vexation to one’s spirit.

I haven’t heard any of this but you never know. Maybe she can teach her mom (dad) how to walk like a lady.

USC would have offered the opportunity to broaden her cultural horizons....

Especially the off-campus environment.

A handful of schools (HYP in particular) have such big endowments that many students go there without paying much and without taking loans.

Actually, MIT has been actively recruiting women to apply for several years. With decent but not great SATs, she probably would’ve gotten in.
