I never understood why something that went on in another country and wasn’t earthshaking was a big deal here...

It's an excuse to get drunk and party, party, party. I first encountered it in TX, although I was a native Californian and lived there the first 3 decades of my life. My understanding is that Sept. 16 (which happens to be my birthday) is the true Mexican Independence Day. What say you?

Another jeremiad — this one from Steve Deace. USA Today won’t allow posting, or excerpting.

September 16, or Dieciséis is the “real” Mexican Independence day as far as I’m concerned-my 1st husband was working on engineering jobs in Mexico a couple of times on 9-16, and once when it was on a weekend, I went down to join him-the people he was working with, both Texans and Mexicans-had a huge party with fireworks, food and lots of beer and whiskey-it was great fun...

Here is another jeremiad for the nation:

Hillary’s election will mean the total feminization of our country. The complete tenor of American culture will change.

I predict the religious & traditional people will move to the smaller towns & rural areas while the cities will become havens for left-wing types, transients, or foreigners in search of tax shelter, as there will no longer be any communal loyalty.

Remember, he was the head of the Harvard Law Review.

Besides, he's the first black President.

...and he has a crease in his pants.

So he *must* be right.

It's 'cinco de mayo' today
...or maybe, (Obama would say)
"It's 'cinco de quat'--"
"I thought he said..." "What?"
Let's just both start drinking, I say!

Mark Levin seems to be going on an extended jeremiad over the apparent inevitability of the Trumpinator.
