Now that Donald Trump’s two main opponents are out of the way, the conversation is shifting to who his running mate will be. And, as ever, the good people of Reddit have it all figured out.

Supporters of Donald Trump launched into a massive discussion on the Donald Trump subreddit, /r/the_donald, after Tuesday’s primary. And a Vocativ analysis of the over 4,300 comments reveals that Trump fans are most ready for joint ticket with Rand Paul.

Users participating in the thread, which was tagged as a serious discussion, mentioned Rand Paul more than any other potential candidate, a total of 295 times. Users cited his ability to court the Libertarian electorate, and his foreign policy views as key reasons.

Rand Paul is a nut case. Pick someone who actually might be a good POTUS should the need arise.

This pick would shore up the large libertarian contingent.

Rand Paul is the most sensible pick.

He’s great assassination insurance - one of the few people the GOPe is less enthusiastic about than Trump - and has the experience to help Trump navigate the DC political scene.

He’d also be one of the few people who could bring millions of libertarian Republicans back into the fold.

For those paying attention, many of Trump’s foreign policy ideas are lifted directly from Paul. Trump clearly pegged Paul as the strongest competitor when he picked the latter out for elimination before dealing with any of the chumps that remained in the race.

Don’t shoot the messenger, please, just throwing this out there..........

Will the liberals and media beat up on us, if the ticket is two white men? Which will be contrasted with Hillary and a likely member of a minority as her running mate??

We can debate all day long the qualifications of the tickets, I’m just talking about the optics. Will the optics hurt us if Trump picks a white man, no matter how inspiring a pick he may be from the conservative point of view???

Having said that, I would throw out Allan West as a potential running mate for Trump to solve those problems.

The Jim Webb idea would be particularly troublesome for Hillary.

It’s a decent pick. They agree on a lot clearly, Rand’s probably better at actually articulating the details of a lot of it. But putting the Ron Paul army into play could be big. Doesn’t really address the demographic and geographic type considerations though, but maybe that’s OK.

I think the Paul People-Libertarians badly burned by the GOPe in 2012 and 2008 presidential primary contests have been the ‘silent supporters’ of Donald Trump throughout this year’s process.

Trump already has the libertarians, his VP pick should be someone that knows DC and how to get things done in DC. Newt. Also it’s not over until Trump gets well past 1237 delegates. The GOPe could be playing “rope a dope”.

They will beat up on us regardless. We could have a black-Hispanic disabled military vet transgender lesbian union member on the ticket and it would change nothing.

Allen West brings nothing to the table.
