The war on drugs is a miserable failure.
My husband and I voted for marijuana legalization in Washington state and so did tons of conservatives, including many who had been directly involved in the failed war on drugs - sheriffs, etc.
What the police bring to me at work in many states where I have worked, night after night after night, are drunks from behind the wheel. Not pot smokers.
Yep, cops don’t even want to bother with pot smokers because (unless they are also drinking or doing other drugs), they are just a nuisance and not generally causing a lot of trouble.
When they gave the cops in my city the discretion to either arrest the potheads or give them a ticket, they universally chose to ticket unless they catch someone who is clearly a drug dealer or gang banger.
