I refuse to fly anymore.

If I can not drive I do not go.

This situation indicates extreme management incompetence. The appointed managers were and seemingly are not aware of load leveling techniques...probable taught in the first year of any management course. They should have been ready for this....too busy cashing their government checks and harassing travelers.

...and I think they are using these lines to force people to pay to join the pre-check program.

I get pre-check on my tickets most of the time... probably 4 out of 5 times, and I didn't pay or do anything special.

Are you thinking of the Global Entry program? I haven't done that because I would have to go all the way to Miami (an hour or so from me) to do the interview and all that jazz.

"I have two thoughts..."

Or worse yet, they are complicit.
Lots of innocent people milling around the airport terminal waiting on lines is a dangerous place to find yourself.
I know that I am often looking around for an out-of-place person who does not seem quite right.
Even though a jetliner would not be hijacked at all, it would naturally freak people about airline travel.

If I can not drive I do not go.

Exactly my personal policy since my last flight in 2009. I've still done business travel for conferences and such by combining driving time as regular leave time. My wife accompanies me and we work in some interesting vacation stop either going or returning.

We do want to do an Alaska cruise sometime and that will require some re-thinking, along with an application for a passport.

TSA is the security risk, crowding people by the hundreds and thousands OUTSIDE security, unprotected. Always fear attacks and bombings in the checking and security areas, not at the gates. I travel tomorrow and having invested in Pre-Check, get to skip the lines. No fun to watch, feels just as risky.

We were automatically put in that program years ago...

1. TSA wants more money and more bodies to justify their existence.

This is just another way of going on strike without going on strike.

These govt. parasites are pathetic.

Believe it or not I’m assigning the blame to good old fashioned government incompetence. Couple that with this being Chicago with all of its attendant nepotism, corruption, and patronage and you have the typical outcome.

“Government f**** up everything it touches.” Lurker’s Maxim 1.

Exactly!!!
If you are a suicide muslim (or amish..), you can now kill almost as many...maybe more.. by just getting in line. 3 muslims staggered in line and synced could wipe out almost everyone.

They wont care to get to the checkpoint.
Set up.
