The Uninsured Rate Falls, But Does ObamaCare Deserve The Credit?
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 5/19/2016 | John Merline

The latest figures on the uninsured population were cause for celebration at the White House. The Centers for Disease Control said that only 9.1% of Americans were uninsured last year, which is the lowest figure since the CDC started tracking it in 1957.

Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell called it “further proof that our country has made undeniable and historic strides thanks to the Affordable Care Act.”

There’s no doubt that the uninsured rate dropped after 2013, which is when ObamaCare went into full effect.

But a closer look at the data show that the drop in the ranks of the uninsured had little to do with ObamaCare’s subsidies for private insurance, and almost everything to do with skyrocketing enrollment in Medicaid, the government program for the poor.

There is no such thing as a reliable government statistic.

Well, the expansion of Medicaid was a huge part of the ACA, so yes, the decline of the uninsured is a result of Obamacare. They are on welfare now.

If they have Obamacare, but no doctors will take Obamacare, are they really insured?

(Yes, if a catastrophic medical emergency arises, much of the hospital bill will be paid. But isn't that just like the old "major medical" or catastrophic care policies? Except without the low cost. And if so, wouldn't it have been cheaper and more efficient to just provide everyone medically indigent with a high deductible catastrophic care policy under Medicare or Medicaid?)

...and is the coverage rate still calculated as having insurance the entire year with no even brief gaps?

The Centers for Disease Control said that only 9.1% of Americans were uninsured last year,

Let's see. There are, what?, some 330 million Americans?

So, 9.1% of 330 million is roughly 30 million.

Hey! Wait a minute! That's the exact same number of Americans who were uninsured BEFORE ObamaDon'tCare.

At least that's the number we were told were uninsured and on which basis ObamaDon'tCare was shoved down our gullets.

Isn’t it ridiculous?

Now the uninsured are people like me who were previously responsible citizens, but can no longer afford insurance. The insured are the ones who are enjoying the redistribution of earnings.

You can’t call Obama care insurance. $7500 deductible, really?

The numbers are what they want them to be.
Like the unemployment numbers, all fabricated.

Obamacare was designed to destroy the private heath insurance companies and add a line item on the 1040 tax form.
