Sorry you'll have to click on the article link, in the next post, if you would like to read this article.

I am just posting this to recognize:

1) I believe the author is correct. If Ted Cruz would have won the nomination, he would have lost the election. Indisputably so.

2) Yet I believe Ted Cruz gave Donald Trump one heck of a run. Big time.

I really hope the two of them can rebuild what seemed to be a good relationship early in the campaign.

Both fought hard. Now it is time to unite, against the democrats.

Enjoy.

I started this election cycle strongly supporting Ted Cruz for President.

I ended it hating his guts, and I know I am not the only one.

I have nothing against Cruz supporters, but I do believe Ted has thrown his career away over the past several months. A shame really.

It's not "indisputable".

You might be wrapped a little too tightly for Election season. It was a primary. Big whoop.

Canadian Ted Cruz would have lost in November. He lost now and needs to GO AWAY

Well ok. But I agree with the author completely.

We may just win this time. Trump is a very strong candidate. He is winning in every category. He is strong among Republicans, and he is also strong with quite a few democrats, who are very unhappy with the way everyone is selling out American workers.

I won’t get in an argument here (at least I won’t try to) but I completely agree that Ted Cruz would have been completely decimated in the general election. That is just my opinion, but I strongly believe he would have lost, BIG.

That said, he was a very strong competitor. I really hope the two of them (Cruz and Trump) can work out their differences and join forces against the democrats.

And the two sides of our party, can re-unite, as well.

How many cross over voters do you think Cruz would have gotten?

Ditto.

Although I would put my current hatred of Cruz in much stronger language.

I want his presence eliminated from memory and the earth salted.

“Although I would put my current hatred of Cruz in much stronger language.”

I still like him. Did I want him to win? Yes. Do I want Trump to win? Yes.

He may be able to survive in Texas, but there is no national future for Ted beyond some RNC hack.

Not bad, glad to hear he has campaign funds in the bank.

However, after losing in the south his campaign was a desperate shambles and made him look bad.
But if it gave him lots of money to run for re-election it was, in the end, probably a very good thing.

My sentiments, exactly.

Two words describe Ted Cruz: No ethics.

What a pantload, by this logic Mitt Romney would be on top of the world now. Political futures are not fungible.

After Trump began pulling away from ted, ted began acting like he was compromised. Ted of spring 2016 was nothing at all like Ted of 2015.

The change in ted was disturbing.

If you ever find a cRuz-specific pill for that, lemme know. There's big bucks in it for you.

HIs brand is evangelical conservative yet he lost most of the South (everywhere except Texas and Oklahoma) and overall I think he only won 4 primaries (the rest were caucuses). I’m not sure I see a big future for him outside of his own Senate seat assuming he retains that.

He may be able to survive in Texas, ...

Ummmm... just NO. Not until he unlocks his and his mother's records and proves to us just who the heck he is. And if he thinks otherwise, he'll find out soon enough.

I do believe Ted has thrown his career away over the past several months...

Do you mean his senate career - getting reelected? I don’t know why a number of freepers contend that Cruz won’t get reelected senator in Texas. The people that do this simply don’t comprehend the dynamics in state elections. First, it’s very hard to unseat an incumbent. Second, it depends on the quality of the competition. Third, if the candidate is supported by the highest state office holders who are popular, they will propel their candidate to victory.

Regarding the quality of the competition...Most business owners trying to turn politician are not like Trump. They are not used to the media and don’t know how to use it, haven’t formulated their positions beyond not liking the guy in office, have little money or ideas on how to run a campaign. A lot of them have only recently considered entering the political realm, some on the spur of the moment. These candidates don’t come across as very knowledgeable, confident and articulate, regardless of their abilities. Perception is everything. Dave Brat was also an exception. So in order for an incumbent to be Cantorized, there must be a strong competitor.

There wasn’t a Dave Brat running against John Cornyn in his senate primary and unless there is such a competitor running against Ted Cruz, he will likewise be reelected.
