I wonder what the poor gent was wearing that attracted the bees.

Anything that is black. Killer bees attack anything that is black. I rode a motorcycle in southern Arizona and wore a black helmet, they would occasionally slam into the helmet when I rode around 35 MPH.

If Africanized bees, no provocation or attraction required; just mean and aggressive. Bees can fly at 45 MPH, and Africanized variety will chase up to 1/2 mile. Can’t outrun them; shelter only option.
