If a human life is endangered by an animal it is killed, no question. The rule is shoot to kill if there is any reasonable possibility of injury to a person.

Why didn't they shoot this one then?

You gotta be kidding me. The organizers behind the petition think nothing of babies being ripped apart in the womb and they cry over a monkey?!! Whoever signs the petition needs their head examined!

Very sad that the gorilla was killed. Very sad when a dog gets hit by a car or an eagle is killed by a wind turbine. It’s the thrill of the left you’re after, not justice.

The only justice for the big dude would being at home in the jungle, the home God intended. Zoos are big money these days....I’m sure they have plenty of his sperm in the cooler.

What would you consider “justice” for an ape?

Cash settlements to Harambe's next of kin?

From what I have heard of the incident, the zoo did the right thing--there was too much risk to the child to do anything else.

It’s very sad because there are only about 800 of these type of gorillas left.

And when a zoo is given an endangered species to care for, everything should be done to avoid just killing it. Yes that means really looking at the safety of the enclosure, but they should have non lethal methods of stopping the animal; if it can’t be done, then it should not be in a zoo.

Just my 2 cents....very sad to even see them locked up in the first place...

“So in the New World Order, Blacks win against whites, but Gorillas win against Blacks?”

Gorilla is the new Black.

It is sad, they are intelligent animals and must have feelings when they are being gawked at, possibly taunted and teased. I don’t see how they ever really get used to it.

Monkeys Unite!

"Some animals are more equal than others" (Animal Farm).

Animal worshipers haven't evolved as much as they claim.

Ok but somebody has to be held responsible for the gorillas death. The gorilla died for no fault of its own.

while I do not agree with those who claim the mother set it up, the parents were negligent and at the very least should pay for the gorilla.

It reminds me of that killing of a boy by painted dogs at the Pittsburg zoo a few years ago. Intelligent, nurturing, interesting character as the keepers described Hamabe. That child being in that exhibit was totally foreign to him. He’s used to people, but not children. From the animals’ perspective I can imagine they are thinking “What just fell into our enclosure? Let’s go and see! It’s not scary, but it’s moving—let’s assault it (assuming they did; I don’t know if they did)! Our keepers are trying to distract us, but this thing is new and way more interesting...”

And all the mother can manage is screaming “mommies right here.” Where the hell was she when it really counted ?
