It is sad, they are intelligent animals and must have feelings when they are being gawked at, possibly taunted and teased. I don’t see how they ever really get used to it.

You may want to turn in your FReeper card. It was an animal. Ascribing human attributes to an animal is just plain wrong.

The gorilla did not know its name. If it had a daily calendar, it would read, find food. Next day, find food, next day, Find food.

It has no emotions, It has no specific intellect, nor was it pining for the jungle in Africa.

When the boy fell down in the pit, the gorilla opened the calendar in its brain that said Find food.

A bullet to the head was the only solution. Thee is no justice needed.

A lot of the posters here will feel differently when the negligent parents file a lawsuit against the zoo looking for money. If they do, and they win, the money should go to purchase a new gorilla for the zoo or to an animal rescue charity of some kind. Trust me, a lawsuit is coming.

The Zoo administration is responsible. The Zoo already paid for the gorilla and lost it. The Zoo might be ordered to pay the family of the child for damages, if negligence is found.

Animals don’t have Constitutional rights. People do. That’s the way it should be.

Those who pretend to worship animals are really trying to use false arguments to push their bureaucrats to hurt or even murder their neighbors. We’ve seen it with the drug-addled pit bull pushers. That’s how spoiled children behave.

If it was predatory it would have been a killing, and the boy would have been dismembered in seconds.

“The zoo did the right thing in the circumstances. They made the right choice. Sadness over this is normal, but turning it into a political cause is stupid.”

Yep, This is the one i’m voting for. If that kid had gotten hurt in that cage while the keepers stood around wondering if the Gorilla was going to pat him on the head or tear him in two. There’s a lawsuit right there.

There’d be hell to pay either direction they went.

Still it’s tragic.

Ok but somebody has to be held responsible for the gorillas death.

How about the gorilla itself?

Other than that, your statement makes little sense...

I don’t know, my kids got away from me a couple times when I wasn’t paying close enough attention, and I was just lucky there wasn’t a tragedy. Not often but it happened. And to close friends and relatives. So I don’t like to be a harsh judge of others for it.

Yeah, something like that. And the North Vietnamese used to parade American captives in cages around. It was done at times in Europe, too, and humiliations in colonial America, it’s nothing new to treat humans like animals, sometimes worse.

Adolf Hitler and vegetarianism
Analysis
Wikipedia
However, Alexander Cockburn writes:...One, as just noted, many Nazi leaders harboured affection towards animals but antipathy to humans. Hitler was given films by a maharaja which displayed animals killing people. The Führer watched with equanimity. Another film showed humans killing animals. Hitler covered his eyes and begged to be told when the slaughter was over.[30]

The .458 Winchester Magnum is a belted, straight-taper cased, dangerous game rifle cartridge. It was introduced commercially in 1956 by Winchester and first chambered in the Winchester Model 70 African rifle.[2] It was designed to compete against the .450 Nitro Express and the .470 Nitro Express cartridges found in big bore British double rifles. The .458 Winchester Magnum remains to this day one of the most popular dangerous game cartridges. Most major ammunition manufacturers offer a selection of .458 ammunition for rifles chambered in the cartridge.
