Ill never forget Dave Bowman slowly unplugging Hal..... Me neither. So satisfying! I loved how grim he was, he'd totally, completely had it. HAL was going down if it was the last thing Bowman ever did. All while HAL kept prattling on, trying to stop him. Beautiful scene.

HAL singing Daisy Bell was a reference to the Bell Laboratories work on computer text to speech. They used a 1950s era IBM mainframe that had vacuum tubes.
