I got to meet this guy!
I live here in Davao City, where he has been Mayor for 4 terms, separated by a term his daughter held. While he was elected President, she is Mayor again, and his son, Pulong is Vice-Mayor.
I didn't know it until just doing a search now, the Pulong is Muzzie.On his Facebook page, he explains that he had a sharia divorce from his previous wife. Only Muzzies can divorce in the Philippines. I know that Rodrigo said his Mom is part Moro (Moslem), he claims to be a Christian, previously Roman Catholic.
That said, this is a safe city due to the enforcement (with the emphasis on FORCE) against drug dealers and other known criminals . It seems they regularly get killed in "shootouts". There really isn't any "Hmmmmmm" there. He has long talked of his goal: "drug dealers will be leaving. Either vertical or horizontal, they will leave"!
