But it is in keeping with the teachings of the Hitler Youth:
” One case involved a teenaged HJ member named Walter Hess who turned in his father for calling Hitler a crazed Nazi maniac. His father was then hauled off to the concentration camp at Dachau under Schutzhaft (protective custody). For setting such an example, Hess was promoted to a higher rank within the HJ. “
Or, for folks who don’t like the HJ/BDM, let’s not forget the story of the Soviet martyr Pavlik Morozov. He denounced his father to the authorities, and the father was sentenced to 10 years hard labor. (His father ended up not having to serve the full sentence, as he was executed before the 10 years were up). Pavlik’s uncle, grandfather and grandmother were also executed.
Of course, someone might want to tell the boy in the story what happened to Pavlik.
I bet that the family reunions were awkward after that.
