You are correct. Law Enforcement have no duty to protect anything. However they do have a commission to enforce the law. IF a LE Officer see’s a crime being committed, He is required to do everything in his power to stop the crime and place the perpetrator under arrest.
IF LE officers were ordered, which is what is rumored, not to enforce law, Then Their superiors are at risk, both legally and civilly.
