I think people are missing the point. Maybe the judge’s parents were illegal aliens. Maybe he belongs to La Raza. However, Trump did not say this. He said he was biased just because he was a Mexican-American and was proud of his heritage. Maybe Trump is not a racist, but his statement was.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor:

–In a 1999 speech: "I would hope that a wise woman with the richness of her experiences would, more often than not, reach a better conclusion."

–In a 2002 speech to the Princeton club: "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would, more often than not, reach a better conclusion."

–In 2004, in a speech on women judges at Seton Hall Law School: "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would, more often than not, reach a better conclusion."

This is correct. After passage of the 14th amendment, many natives born in the US were not citizens of the US...they were citizens of their sovereign tribes/nations, unless otherwise specified by treaty. It took an act of Congress to declare by statute that all native Americans were citizens of the US also.

Congress can simply change the law by statute....whether or not they have the testicular fortitude is another matter.

What race are Mexicans? The term is a nationality, not a race. EX: What race are Americans? ...Ridiculous!

Depends on what you mean by racist. Sotomayor, and all your liberal friends, believe that racism can be a positive thing. That acknowledging race can be acknowledging strength - as long add the acknowledged race is non-white. Trump is pointing out that racism exists in races because they are races, and that that indicates a bias. You seen to be taking the position that even acknowledging the existence of race bias, through the acknowledgement of race itself, is wrong. Why is that? Why is race, per se, never to be acknowledged? It has a definite impact on human behavior. Why can’t that be acknowledged? How is that innately wrong, versus just innate? How is denying it helpful, rather than simply enabling preferential race bias by the accuser? Why should all human dynamics be denied to the subject of race? If they aren’t, which races do you choose to affirm, and which races do you choose to denigrate? How far should that race bias be allowed to go? The organization that Trump’s judge belongs to, LaRaza, believes that ultimately non-Chicanos should be killed. Do you agree with that? Is disagreeing with that, racist? Chicanos are also technically not a race - they are a mix of Spanish and native Central American. Is it racist to point that out? What is the word for addressing the subject of race, other than the moral condescension that goes implicitly with the word racism? What is an adequate defense to such a charge? Is there any? Why should racism be so powerful, when no other word is? And finally, why do you think you have any authority, whatsoever, to call anyone a racist, when all human beings belong to one or another race? Does the hypocrisy bother you, or do you feel above any conflict because if your unique and superior understanding of this issue?

Just checked my mother's death certificate and there is no social security number on the certificate.

At one time, SSNs were applied for when one acquired a job, not handed out at birth—as today.

No individual is responsible for his parents’ legal status. But he IS responsible for his ties to La Raza, which should be an automatic recusal or disqualifier.

Maybe. Something like limiting it to children born here of legally present permanent residents.

The 14th Amendment clearly says, "all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside, ..."

Illegal immigrants are NOT subject to any jurisdiction. As proof, order them to report to the nearest police station or city clerk's office. What, no stampede?

There are lots of citizens who would decline that "invitation" (or reject that order) as well. They'll just send out armed men to bring 'em in, same for an illegal.

I think the key phrase is "born or naturalized in the United States", and the illegals are neither. Their kids born here are citizens through our own laws, until we get the guts to change them.
