Have you ever considered 'New Zealand spinach' ?
I understand it to be a vining spinach leaves, and continues to grow despite heat;
(disclaimer) I have never grown it myself, but several have done so on this board.

I have grown it. It did really well as an indoor plant during the winter. Similar to spinach.
