I just watched the video. As always, VERY well done, Sir! A couple of points, though.

The term, "Assault Rifle," is the legal description (In America) of a select-fire rifle or carbine. Basically, an automatic (Also called, "Full Auto") machine gun like the M-16.
Assault Rifle

Also, it is NOT illegal to buy or own an actual assault rifle. Unfortunately, the US government (See: Firearm Owners Protection Act) and The Hughes Amendment has fixed the prices for these because of the feds making it illegal to manufacture any more after May 19th 1986 with the exception for law enforcement and government use.

This made all of the already existing full autos at that date the ONLY full autos available for sale or transfer for the average citizen.
1986 was a long time ago.
Those weapons are VERY rare, and expensive.
On the low end? You'd pay about $25,000 for an old, rusty, full auto Tommy gun.
And you and I and all of the FReepers here know for a fact that criminals in America simply are NOT buying these up.
In fact, there has been only one case (That I know of) where National Firearms Act items (Full auto, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, AOWs and silencers) were used in a crime. And it was done by a law enforcement officer -who are exempt from these gun control laws.

I was listening to Gun Talk with Tom Gresham a couple of weeks ago. He had this caller to his show who said that he liked guns. He said that he enjoyed going to the gun show and buying the M-1 Garand that he owns, but then said that people shouldn't be allowed to own, "Weapons of war."

WHAT THE HELL DID HE THINK OUR SOLDIERS AND MARINES USED IN THE EARLY PART OF OUR LAST CENTURY TO FIGHT WARS?!?!?!

Anyhoo, I'm rambling.

If you need any other information, please hit us up here on FR.

Again. well done! Please keep on 'em. Never give up.

To much verbiage for the circumstances.
Colloquially, automatics are illegal. Enough said.
Insofar as a tiny number are legal, they’re old, worn/used, and with far more as investments than weapons (decent M16 costs $25,000 - because it’s so rare).
