After Katrina, I put a sign at the entrance to our road that stated<

Armed Community

Looters will be shot

Had my .357 strapped to my hip even though open carry in MS was not really allowed at the time.

A Trooper cruised by while I was putting the sign in place. He stopped, looked at me, touched the brim of his hat and drove on.

When you advertise that your area is under the aegis of armed citizens and homeowners, the bad guys want nothing to do with you or your neighborhood - not a single case of breaking in or looting in our neck of the woods.

A friend who lived in Maryland at the time, (a liberal cesspool of gun control and lack of 2A protection) was out walking his dog. A friend of his who was a cop rolled by and asked if he was aware that there was a violent escaped prisoner on the loose nearby. My friend replied that he was aware.

Cop: “You carrying?”
Friend: “Yep”
Cop: “Good, have a nice day.”

As it ought to be.
