Oops. Somehow I inserted “Want a swing state” in front of Phoenix, which is not (hopefully) in a swing state.

"Why does the GOP always pick liberal cities?"

Er, there are no conservative cities of sufficient size and infrastructure to host a convention?

Did you read his post? At all?

Cleveland (390,000 population) isn’t near as big as Phoenix (1,500,000 pop), Fort Worth (830,000 pop), or even Oklahoma City (630,000 pop).

And all of those cities have more than enough infrastructure to host a convention.

Why pick a city at all.

Do an E-Convention with delegates in a place in each state linked by broadband.

Because they are simpering VICHY GOP quislings, liars and poltroons.

The only ‘good’ thing about the convention is that they will be forced to nominate Donald Trump for President. That’s all they’re good for at this point. Then, if we stay true and elect him, the excision starts anew.

OH is a really important swing state, so looking to hold the convention here is rational. Cleveland made the best presentation of the three, because the city is 100% committed to presenting an excellent convention site.

As far as it being a liberal city? For sure, but it's also a real good place to siphon off a lot of votes. The dems in the state don't have much leadership or effectiveness. Besides that, manufacturing jobs are a real big issue around here.

THANK GOD the convention isn't in state capital Columbus, with Kasick there to muck things up. Mayor Jackson is probably a dem, but I'd classify him more as a realist. Don't underestimate his willingness to work across the political spectrum to make it all work out for Cleveland.

PS: Cleveland managed extremely well over 1.3 million people with two days planning time for the Cavs victory events. As some details of the convention plan are revealed, it does seem to be sensible for keeping everyone safe.

The same reason that Ryan and McConnell and Romney
and McCain (and ObamaTRADE, RomneyCARE, and treasoncoverup)
remain the representative BRAINS of the present GOP.

They are liars. They are vote stealers.

They encourage treason. Every day. Today, too.

The last GOP convention was in Tampa Florida....

Tampa does lean left, but is hardly a “liberal” city...

With Cleveland being so desperately liberal, why has there not been a push to remove Chief Wahoo as the mascot for the baseball team that resides there???

Living near Phoenix, I would never in my wildest dream call Phoenix a “conservative” city.

The facilities and hotel accommodations are the deciding factor. How many Republican cities have the convention site and hotel accommodations to handle a political convention?

Why does the Republican Party always pick liberal cities?

Good question.

2012 — Tampa Bay
2008 — St Paul
2004 — New York
2000 — Philadelphia
1996 — San Diego
1992 — Houston
1988 — New Orleans
1984 — Dallas

and the beat goes on.......

The last powerful conventions was in 84 and 88. The 1984 convention was probably the best. Reagan ‘ s speech was wonderful. Cities have more people, more energy.

Very few areas can host 50,000 people, which is the number that attend a national political convention.

The Washington RNC would always prefer the most leftist host site to intimidate GOP conservatives.

Cheer up: Texas will be a swing state in 2020 and the convention can be held in Ft. Worth.
