A man was shot by police in Falcon Heights on Wednesday evening. In a video posted on Facebook, the man’s girlfriend says the “police shot him for no apparent reason, no reason at all.”

The girlfriend, Lavish Reynolds, started the video with the man slumped next to her, his white T-shirt soaked with blood on the left side. In the video, taken with her phone, she says they were pulled over at Larpenteur Avenue and Fry Street for a broken taillight.

Warning: Graphic video of the incident posted on Facebook

I can’t believe what I’m reading here.

This woman could do *nothing.* One lunge to “stop the bleeding” and she’s dead, and her daughter is an orphan. Cops do not let you move around freely in a situation like this.

The driver of the vehicle who was just involved in a shooting was handcuffed and put in the back of a unit and she still has her cell phone with her? Wowza!

The Louisiana case is not clear cut. The felon resisted and had to be taken down. There’s a good chance the cops noticed the gun at that time, and when they were having trouble restraining his arms, that’s when one cop drew his weapon. At that time (the video is not clear on this because you can’t see the felon’s right arm), the felon might have gone for his gun, so the cop shot him.

In the Minnesota case, we have no idea of what happened prior to the shooting. Maybe the woman is telling the truth, but we can see that she couldn’t see if the guy was getting his wallet or his gun since she was driving and the gun was on the guy’s right side. The cop there could see, however. The question is was it a good shoot or a bad decision by the cop.

You don’t know that. The phone could have been on the dash/instrument panel. If she had it in her hand with her hands up, they would have told her to drop it.

Right you are.

They better hope they have audio of the verbal exchange. They should.

If they do and prove the LEO gave multiple commands not to move his hands, then driver will have a lot of explaining to do. If not.....

The video with the driver giving the near real time story like a reporter is fascinating.

She posted it on Facebook and it went viral without the “media.”

I’m sure her boyfriend, a cafeteria worker at a Montessori school with no criminal record, was happy to bleed to death in the service of covering up federal corruption.

There are several things that bother me about this:

1. Broken tail light—well don’t police usually use license plate to run a check of the car’s owner? Officer was behind the car if broken tail light. Why wouldn’t he run a check on the plates.
2. I was under the impression that your lic. plate would reveal to an officer doing a lic plate check that you are a CCW holder, and when stopped you tell the officer you have a firearm...Shoudn’t this cop have checked??

You cannot obtain a CCW if you have a criminal record, so the driver not very likely a perp. Again, wouldn’t officer be able to verify some of this?

Minneapolis police have both dash cams and body cams...Wonder if this nearby municipality does as well, if they do, then should be able to obtain video of officer actions prior to the passenger starting her phone.

The local news said the girlfriend is in custody...I wonder why??

Very troubling video to me as news reports show the guy seemed like he was a nice guy who was in wrong place wrong time, etc...

If they do and prove the LEO gave multiple commands not to move his hands...

This might be a case where the officer gave multiple and contradictory commands, all in rapid succession. As in "Let's see some ID", followed by "Don't move", followed by "Hands up."

If so, that would rattle and confuse anybody.

Yes, and we also don't know what actually transpired here (other than the passenger being shot) since the video begins after the incident. We are just assuming the cop is guilty, or at least that is what I'm reading in the comments here.

The passenger probably didn’t own the car so they likely wouldn’t get zip on the plate run regarding a CW.

There should be audio of the verbal exchange from the LEO.

Don’t know. Once a stop is initiated and they exit their vehicle the audio should be activated. Where is the audio?

What is weird is that the car looks like steering wheel on the right...the officer is pointing gun at that window...officer approach the driver side of vehicle..not passenger, so not sure who is driver and who is passenger...if you watch video it seems to show steering wheel in front of the guy.

It’s the cheap camera lens in the cell, kind of had a fish-eye wide angel appearance. I am confident it was the BF passenger who was killed and the female was behind the wheel.

Already a few things here not making sense. They never put a handcuffed person, who was just directly involved in a shooting, into the back of a unit without a search. She still had her cell phone and it was on.

That’s nutso.

Hmm then there must be another officer that asked for the lic of the driver as you can see the one officer’s gun pointing in window.

I as stopped once for a broken tail light...the officer approached me as the driver. Paid no attention to passengers.

However, yes, if not his car, then lic plate would not have shown anything.

Hmm well again, never been involved in that.

Actually, I was in back of a police car once. Years ago as a teen, car broke down and officer kindly gave my future spouse and me a ride home on cold January night. Oh how times have changed :(
