I was also told that people with red hair tend to have lower pain tolerance. I did not know this until a physician asked me if I had naturally red hair. My son was being stitched up and she wanted to know in order to make sure they had enough of the anesthesia in the spot. He has red in his beard. I have a lot of red in my hair so it explains why novacaine tends to need a second dose and so on. Also why having stitches in my toe was the worst pain I have felt!
I have lots of freckles but my hair is primarily, or was, medium brown. Lots of red in it, though.
I do tan and know I shouldn’t.

I have low pain tolerance, too, and had a nurse tell me about the ‘redhead’ thing. I also have ‘twin toes’ where I was told that is a ‘redhead recessive gene’. And I have beautiful feet, IMHO. Looks like He cut them on a perfect diagonal. Weird.

Kind of off topic, but this kind of reminded me of my lifelong amusement that people NOT of color are the only people in the world that have any variation in hair and eye color.
