I think we’ll just call her a brave cop. Who knows what mayhem may have ensued had this desperado been allowed to continue on the bus.
The female cop escalated the situation. She did a few things wrong:
1) she aimed her pistol at the driver.
2) she went in with her handgun out in front of her, losing control of the situation.
3)It appeared there was an AD when he first jumped her, when her arm was waving around dangerously close to the bus driver. Could have shot the driver twice.
4) once she got in hand to hand combat the extended handgun in hand meant she was fighting 1 handed. At a disadvantage.
5) she gave up. Notice one the shoot happens it is the cop who shot him who gets her up and out, she was a wet noodle, in reaction mode, she lost her situational awareness.
Basically by going to the handgun before the Taser she made sure the perp would submit or be shot. Not very bright.
What she should have done was get the driver to come out with the keys, then talk the Hispanic guy down or wait for backup. Police are not supposed to go to deadly force unless no other option exists. Because she is female and weak, she has to do to deadly force much quicker.
Better yet, get rid of weak female cops and go back to the old model of guys who can handle themselves in a fighting situation. Kind of like your ex-drill sergeant types. very intimidation and they do not have to escalate to deadly force.
That said it is a good shoot, but should not have happened.
