Is that to say the current law is too permissive?

Nothing against the protection of LEOs, but reactionary legislative action hasn’t been a friend of Constitutional liberty.

The whole concept of "hate crimes", even if it includes police, is BS. Best thing to do is treat murder, assault, rape, etc., as such. Set mandatory death penalty for murder and rape. Enforce it. Justice should be otherwise blind.

And if it is terrorism, such as BLM-inspired and Islamic violence, call it that.
