Is it really necessary to do this? People of good will supported him, his actions last night and this am are on him, not them.

Yes, his former supporters are now with the nominee of the party.

Cruz's sliminess was evident to all that looked. It says a lot about his followers that they can be so easily swayed by someone because they put on a facade of being religious.

Cruz was empowered by his followers that clung to him long after the nomination was clearly decided.

First, and rare, reasonable reply. First logical reply. Rare responsible act by FReeper on this subject...Thank you!

I supported Cruz despite some concerns, now I'll support Trump in like manner.

I will, however, no longer contribute to the rabid "we chased 'm off", "they want to elect Hillary", "When/if Trump loses, it'll be the fault of Cruz supporters". The continuing gnawing on bones left on the field after what was the nastiest spate of uncivilized schoolyard crap I've ever seen among erstwhile colleagues.

If church issues and the civil war were not sufficient, this nomination cycle has surely been enough to drive out reasonable discussion.
