We try to “fast” everyday by not eating for 10-12 hours. I think as another freeper here said differently. ..Americans are too used to Regular meals and it does kind of show. Course, we sometimes go to bed saying we’re hungry, then laughing that we are part of the statistics of (senior) people who say they are “hungry”...but at age 65 were in great shape....leaner than we were 20 years ago.

Well we don’t really eat breakfast...just a few raw nuts & coffee about 6.30am...then food later. I used to be food driven...since lowering carbs a lot I no longer crave food.

I was also a depression sufferer to the same extent as yourself and I have also found the fasting helps. I do intermittent fasting everyday now (i skip breakfast) and it has helped tremendously. I’ve lost 30 lbs over a year and a half and also off all medications. After 25 years of agony, I’m finally free! Plus lunch tastes really good.
I wish you the best.

I did a 5 day fast each of the the last 2 years, haven’t done one this year yet but was just thinking of it this past week. I consulted my Dr. and he said go ahead just drink plenty of water. I have no signs of any problems while doing it and I’m 85 and in good health, I am overweight and found that carbohydrates really put the weight on me, In order to lose any weight I have to get down to almost zero carbs a day, I need to lose about 25 lbs. I only lose a net 7 or 8 lbs. doing a 5 day fast.

Doing a fast wasn’t that difficult for me but for some reason or other I lack the ambition to do the next one, maybe after I get started it’ll go better.

Yeah fasting cleans out the system
I do it and have a high metabolism.

It’s regular meal skipping that isn’t good for you.
People who regularly skip meals binge eat

When I eat, I usually eat until just before bed. Then I mix a concoction bragg apple cider vinegar and cold pressed extra virgin olive oil. down it and drink coconut milk to quench the burning in my throat.
That seems to tame my stomach juices while I sleep. I wake up clear headed and cheerful.

I have fasted many times, and mine are 100% for seeking the Lord in prayer.

This year I am fasting every Monday, consuming only water, 100% fruit juice, fruits and vegetables. I also did this for a year about 20-years ago. It never gets easy when it's for a short period.

I have done several fasts that were longer, and it usually takes about three days before you don't feel hungry.

Once I did one for at least 40 days. I can't remember the length.

Let me say that even if you are fasting for the Lord you need to take the first few fasts simple, and work your way into it.

When I do the long fasts allow myself to drink protein shakes, and suggest that people consider that approach.

More than anything, be sure that your body can handle the fast and get your doctor involved.

I know that we are not supposed to fast and disfigure our faces so that others know about it, but I felt like I could provide some of my own experiences. Other than mentioning this here, only my wife, church and kids know about it.
