I said I was going to get some bear spray; but someone on
FR said that PEPPER SPRAY is actually rougher than bear
spray. - That new super strong flashlight that blinds a
bad guy (temporarily) sounds good. That and pepper spray
would be better than nothing. - I’ve got an old Smith &
Wesson revolver that my great,great grandfather carried in
his job on the river many, many years ago, and he *may*
have had to actually shoot some yahoo; but he didn’t brag
about it. I don’t want to kill nobody; but they’re making
it difficult not to have to these days.
If you don’t kill them, then in the future someone else will have to.
In Chapel Hill in the early-ish 1990s, a female jogger was attacked by a rapist. She used her pepper spray on him and he pulled out a gun and shot her dead. When it went to trial, and I’m trying to remember exactly what happened, but it seems he was convicted of second-degree murder because she pepper sprayed him first.
