It seems that hardware has finally outpaced software. For decades there was a serious need to upgrade your PC/Mac every 3-4 years. Now, your 5 year old PC/Mac does pretty much anything you need it to do.
Throw in the latest nVidia 1080P chipset video card for $400 and you have a very capable modern gaming system on a 5+ year old box. The race for better software to optimize the hardware experience just doesn’t matter like it used to.
Perhaps this is why Swift isn’t having rhe impact it could, or should have had.
True that. The biggest thing in the last 5 years or so are Nvram SSD laptops with Thunderbolt 3 + USB C with Pascal.
A 3-4x performance increase in 2 years is pretty impressive.
Thats where handhelds fail. Sustained performance for more than a minute or two is still a long way off.
