Why the alt-right isn’t wrong (Clinton anti alt-right speech this Thurs)
The Spectator UK ^ | July 30, 2016 | James Delingpole

Posted on 08/24/2016 4:52:35 AM PDT by libertarian27

To help you understand what’s going on, I’d like you to cast your minds back to the Eighties and the era of ‘political correctness gone mad’. At the time, we thought it was so loopy it would disappear up its own bottom. Instead, it continued to get worse and worse, leading to lunacies like the nursery schools in Oxfordshire teaching kids to sing about ‘Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep’, and thence to nonsense like the ‘safe spaces’ promoted on university campuses for a generation of special snowflakes, as well as to vexatious campaigns like the one conducted at Oxford by anti-white race hustlers known as Rhodes Must Fall.

Yes, to some it might seem a joke but to the kids who have to live in this oppressive environment — as Brendan himself knows, having written about the Stepford Students in The Spectator — it’s horribly real. Young white straight males suffer especially: the moment they arrive on campus they are treated like potential rapists; in lectures they’re harangued by Marxist professors on their ‘white privilege’, as if all ills in the world from the abuse of women to racism are somehow their fault. And the conservatives who should have been fighting their corner just haven’t been up to the job because of the fatal weakness so many on the right have: a secret terror that they’re as nasty as the left claims they are.

For years, from America to Europe to Australia, on a whole range of social issues from the environment to gay marriage to multiculturalism, diversity and gender, mainstream conservatism has far too eagerly conceded territory to the progressive opposition in order to demonstrate its caring, fluffy side. Even when conservative administrations have been in office they have failed to arrest the leftwards drift of the culture.

That has become the effect it has had on me. I no longer give a sh*t about being perceived as a racist.

Same here.
See, we are now 'alt-right' - lol

When Trump says the Persians are great negotiators, is he being a racist? Is he wrong?

It’s OK. That was flippant of me. The alt-right was something that showed up on my radar a while back, and I’ve been observing it as a harbinger of things to come.

I have only recently noticed the term "alt-right." (Within the last month or so.)

I have been noticing that some website which I occasionally patronize are starting to get an "alt-right" feel. It seems that more and more I am seeing references to race where I had not been noticing them before.

I also note that many of these websites feature quite intelligent people discussing the issues of the day, but often when you follow a link they might post, you start seeing more and more ominous signs that something doesn't feel right.

I'll name one in a private message. If I'm mistaken, I don't want to be responsible for spreading a false rumor.

As old Clint said in ‘Fistful of Dollars’, “Sometimes a man’s life depends upon a mere scrap of information.”

Ain't that the truth.

I look at the ‘Persian’ negotiators according to the results they got for their efforts.

They got everything.

There was a funny scene in “Life of Brian” where the guy wants to haggle, just for fun. Not a Persian, as I recall, but part of the general stereotype, which is why it was funny. Eric Idle. Hilarious.

But oh wait, there is no such thing as race /s.

Folks over 40, who don’t follow Twatter, etc, have no idea what’s going on out there.

I don't even follow Twitter. Is Twatter some porn thing?

It wasn’t sarcasm. Just an observation.

Ha, that’s just what I call Twitter. I just read tweets. I don’t tweet myself. It’s where the action is nowadays.

As for Jews, it is my opinion that throughout history, they beg for trouble, and then they get it.

Can you give me an example of how Jews have "begged for trouble" and gotten it?

>>> Does she think they’re just going to lie down and take it?

Of course not. Hillary and her band are counting on alt-right’s fighting back.

And they hope these will go ‘over the top’, so they (her sycophant media type) can pound the desk and say ‘See, we told you so!’. Even if it weren’t true, you can also count on them manufacturing one, after another, after another.....

So how MANY people are in this very vocal but heretofore nearly unknown “Alt-Right” subculture? Clearly Shrillary is going to try to make Trump synonymous with Alt-Right as a smear technique, but I doubt that there are more real, active Alt-Righters than in the thousands, not millions

I base this guesstimate upon the FACT that before now Alt-Right has not leaked significantly into the broader culture. I may be a dinosaur, but I am on the internet a lot (though not on the sites you specified) and I have barely even seen reference to Alt-Right before tonight. Ok, so I am a dinosaur, but I do not think there are vast numbers of Alt-Right people out there (yet). Maybe 100,000, more or less??

obviously Shrillary wants to make the whole Trump phenomenon into Alt-Right so that she can call it racist, anti-semitic etc.

I’m not sure there is such meaningful action on Twitter, mainly a lot of noise. I try to follow Twitter sporadically but it always strikes me as mostly worthless. I do like how Trump and some others can needle libs there with pithy tweets, but I’m still not sure it amounts to much.
